About Dr. Okan Parmaksız

Dr. Okan Parmaksız read medicine at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and has ten years in practice. The document supplied to this site records his specialty as ear, nose and throat and his specialisation training as plastic surgery.

His stated areas of interest are rhinoplasty performed open, closed and with ultrasonic instruments, revision rhinoplasty, septoplasty, septorhinoplasty and ear surgery. Revision work is slower than a first operation, it often draws cartilage from further afield, and it is planned over a longer horizon.

Septorhinoplasty is the operation that appears twice on that list for a reason: it changes the septum and the outside of the nose in one sitting, which is the case where the airway and the shape cannot sensibly be treated as two separate problems.

Operations and conditions

Drawn from the areas of interest Dr. Okan Parmaksız states. Each one links to the guide that explains it: what the operation does, what recovery looks like and what to ask before you agree to it.

Operative photographs

Four noses operated on by Dr. Okan Parmaksız, photographed on the table at the start and again at the end of the operation. They are published as supplied: cropped, but not retouched, graded or lightened.

What you are looking at, and what you are not

The second frame in each pair is the nose at the end of the operation, not the nose the patient lives with. Swelling and bruising follow the operation rather than precede it, most of the swelling settles over the first few months, and the shape is not final for around a year. Skin thickness, the starting anatomy and the reason for operating all differ between these patients and between them and you. What recovery actually looks like sets out the timeline these photographs sit at the very start of.

A pair marked mirrored has been turned left to right, both frames together, so that every pair here faces the same way. Nothing else about it is changed, and a pair is never turned one half at a time.

Asking Dr. Okan Parmaksız a question

A message sent through this site reaches Dr. Okan Parmaksız. Say what bothers you about your nose, whether you have had surgery before and whether you have trouble breathing through either side, and you will get a more useful first answer. It is a written reply rather than a medical consultation, and a consultation is still the thing that settles a plan. Send a question.
