About the surgeon

1. Which specialty did you train in, and may I see the certificate?
2. How many rhinoplasties do you perform in a typical year?
3. How many of those are revisions?
4. Do you perform both open and closed approaches, and which would you use for me and why?
5. Will you personally perform my operation, from start to finish?

About my case specifically

1. What is realistically achievable with my anatomy, and what is not?
2. Is my skin thickness going to limit the result, and how?
3. Will you need to take cartilage from anywhere, and from where?
4. Is my breathing being addressed, and have you examined the airway?
5. What would you not attempt in my case?

About what could go wrong

1. What are the most likely complications for someone with my anatomy?
2. What is your own revision rate, and how do you define it?
3. If I need a revision, who pays, and over what period does that apply?
4. What happens if I develop an infection after I have flown home?
5. Has anything gone seriously wrong in your practice, and what did you do?

About the practical arrangements

1. Where exactly will the operation take place, and what is the address?
2. Who administers the anaesthetic, and what are their qualifications?
3. How many nights should I plan to stay in Istanbul?
4. Who do I contact after I go home, and how quickly do they reply?
5. May I have the consent form now, in English, to read at home?
